why Apple is interested to hire bloggers?

9:15 AM Posted by Rai Sajid
Apple may be interested in hiring a professional blogger, or some other form of PR worker atypical for the company, a sighting in Cupertino suggests. TechCrunch's mobile industry editor, Greg Kumparak, was reportedly seen meeting recently with three Apple employees at a restaurant called BJ's, located in front of the Apple campus. Early into the meal one of the Apple people gave Kumparak a folder with an Apple logo on it, thought to be a job offer packet.

Kumparak will only acknowledge that "a few inquiries have come my way in the past couple of days." TechCrunch chief Michael Arrington, meanwhile, says he hasn't heard of any offers to Kumparak, and that "we love him and he's a valued part of our team and wouldn't want him to leave." Despite the fact that his website was bought by Aol in recent days, Arrington insists that no one is in danger of a layoff.

Apple maintains a relatively distant relationship with the public and the press. Few opportunities are available for direct communication with people in the company, and only a select, favored group of individuals in the media -- such as David Pogue and Walt Mossberg -- are allowed in-depth access or early reviews. The pursuit of people like Kumparak could signify that Apple wants to establish a more cordial atmosphere.
